The reference groups requirements for certificates of competency and recognition by department and rank.
- Deck: Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch II/1, Chief Mate II/2, Master II/2, and GMDSS operators IV/2.
- Engine: Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch III/1, Second Engineer Officer III/2 or III/3, Chief Engineer Officer III/2 or III/3, and Electro-Technical Officer III/6.
